Using intense pulsed light, a photofacial can reduce or eliminate many skin problems including acne scars and broken capillaries. The plastic surgeon that performs photofacials in Chicago uses a type of laser; the laser emits a broad beam directly into the skin. The lasers do not affect the outer layer of the skin, the pulsed light penetrate only the inner skin layer. As the laser typically does not have any effect on the outer skin layer the patient recovers very quickly.
Although the quick recovery time is a major benefit it is not the only one. Photofacials in Chicago using IPL technology is not nearly as painful as other types of therapy. When interviewed post procedure many patients say the pain is akin to someone snapping a rubber band against their skin, they report that the procedure is at worst only slightly uncomfortable. Although the pain is minimal there are those who have a very low tolerance for pain, for these patients a topical anesthetic is used. As there is little evidence that the procedure took place, perhaps the slightest hint of redness is all; patients can go back to their daily activities immediately.
The desired result of having photofacials in Chicago is not immediate, in the majority of cases the patient will have five or six sessions before the process is complete although there is a noticeable improvement after every session. To allow the inner layer of skin to heal completely, the cosmetic surgeon normally schedules sessions every three weeks. There is no doubt that after the procedure is completed there will be a marked improvement in the patient’s skin although there are no guarantees that the problem will be totally eliminated. An intense pulsed light photofacial may not be effective at all for deep wrinkles.
The cost of the treatment tends to vary depending on who does it and where the clinic is located but in any event; photofacials in Chicago are less costly than other laser therapy. The cost also varies depending on the extent of the problems which of course reflects in the number of treatments.
There are minor side effects which are short lived; they include redness and perhaps minor bruising. The doctor will suggest to the patient that he or she avoids lengthy exposure to the sun prior to treatment, this helps to reduce discoloration. Prior to the first treatment the doctor will spend some time with the patient, explaining in detail what to expect during the procedure.
People with acne scars and broken capillaries will find that photofacials in Chicago will go a long way to reduce or completely eliminate the problem. You are invited to schedule a consultation with The Michael Horn Center for Cosmetic Surgery.
