For many years, you had two basic choices when it came to rollers. You could use fabric or foam, and each one gave you different results. Fabric was good for fine work while foam absorbed well and covered large areas quickly. However, not long ago, another option entered the painting world, called microfiber paint rollers. Here are some of the benefits they can provide.
Very Small Fibers
Microfiber is a fabric made from many very tiny fibers. On the other hand, a fabric roller has much larger fibers, and you get a coarser material. Because microfibers are so small (much smaller than human hairs), you get a very soft material. It is excellent for cleaning glass, and you do not have to worry about lint left behind. Foam rollers leave no lint, but they cannot match the softness of microfiber paint rollers.
The Value of Softness
A very soft surface is highly absorbent and holds onto paint well. As a result, you have fewer issues with problems like paint splatter. For example, if you dip a foam roller in paint and quickly remove it, you might get splatter on your surfaces. This does not happen with microfiber paint rollers so you can get through your project quicker and with fewer mistakes.
Smoothness
Some paint jobs require a smooth finish. For instance, painting kitchen cabinets is a popular painting project. It can save your customers a lot of money and takes very little time, compared to refinishing or replacing cabinets. However, people want a nice smooth finish on cabinets and microfiber is a good choice for painting materials.
Cleaning
Some rollers are not easy to clean. You have to soak them more than once and possibly ring them out or squeeze them. With microfiber, cleanup is simple and quick. You can re-use your rollers many times.
