I like to list all the practical reasons before starting a new project or before making a large purchase. It’s important that I allow myself to indulge, but knowing I’m making a practical decision makes the choice easier. Having a brick oven for the home was an easy decision to make. There was a short learning curve, but all of it made me a better cook. My brick oven serves multiple functions that go beyond making incredible food.
Bringing People Together
Many people have grills or outdoor fireplaces as the centerpiece of their backyards. It must come from ancient times when we would huddle around the central fire for comfort. Except now we have hotdogs sizzling over the grill instead of mammoth steak. My home brick oven was a great addition to my backyard cooking space. The oven pumps out delicious dinners for family gatherings and special holidays. I really like that it is an additional cooking station that makes more food fast.
More Variety
Brick ovens for the home provide a ton of culinary opportunities. I like to fire my oven with maple wood whenever I’m baking bread. It adds that smoky undertone to my great-grandma’s recipe that grandma would tell me stories about. The brick oven has paid for itself with the time I saved from going out to eat. Wood-fired pizzas are worth the price, but now I’m able to enjoy more for less. Even the occasional frozen pizza in the oven makes a lazy date night special.
