If you have been suffering for years with conditions like hay fever, snoring, asthma, high blood pressure, anxiety, panic attacks, allergies or any other type of breathing condition, there may be a method that can help. Back in the 1950s a Russian doctor, Konstantin Buteyko, developed a new way of breathing. He called it Breathing Normalization and it is an alternative breathing treatment to heal a number of ailments.
How the Buteyko Method Came to Be
Dr. Buteyko noticed that as a person became sick, their breathing got heavier, more audible, faster and that they began to breathe out of their mouths. As he observed more and more people get sick and noticed the same breathing patterns, he was able to predict how close they were to death. This got him thinking that it was possible that a person’s heavy breathing could actually be attributing to their bad health. Dr. Buteyko, himself, suffered from hypertension and he began slowing and steadying his breaths. Within weeks, his hypertension was improving and he knew he was on to something. Over time, he invented a method of breathing exercises that can be done in order to stop someone from “over-breathing” and help them to heal.
The Buteyko Method, Today
These days, some 60 years after Dr. Buteyko noticed this phenomenon, thousands are still practicing these methods. They are great for children, adults can easily learn these methods and in almost all cases, significant improvement is seen. Thanks to clinics throughout the country, Buteyko’s Method is accessible and available to everyone. By learning how to breathe in a different way, you can take care of so many illnesses that the body isn’t ridding itself of. By using this breathing treatment, you are giving it the boost it needs to heal.
Because there are no medications to take, no surgical procedures and nothing more to do than breathe, these breathing methods are often used for children and adults who are looking for an alternative to the typical ways that western medicine treats these conditions. Though this is completely safe, it is certainly recommended that you only consider this type of treatment after you have spoken to your doctor. If you think that medications or surgery are your only choices, think again…you also have the Breathing Normalization Method.
