The NEET exam is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, and it was known as the All India Pre-Medical Test until the name change in 2013. As it is a requirement for students seeking to complete their MBBS, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, degree, it is important to start gathering NEET exam information as early as possible.
Students must apply to write the NEET (UG) or NEET undergraduate exam. There are specific dates for applications, submission of fees, and the required supporting documentation. All of the NEET exam information is published by the National Testing Agency and is available to students online.
The Test Format
The NEET exam is an in-person pen and paper exam. It is available in 11 different languages, including English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, as well as other languages spoken throughout India. The test is only offered once a year, and there is stiff competition to be able to have the opportunity to write the NEET (UG) and then have a place in an MBBS program.
The test itself is 180 questions. The questions are divided into different subject areas with 90 questions on topics in Biology, 45 questions in Chemistry, and 45 questions in Physics. Each correct answer earns four marks, and an incorrect answer results in one negative market. The total possible for a perfect score on the exam is 720.
According to the Times of India, the current NEET exam information included the high score of 701 obtained by a student. This last year, over 14 lakh candidates wrote the exam. There were 2546 testing centers in 154 cities across the country.
