What Do They Do?

Anti-wear agents are blended into the base oil. These polar additives react to heat. When they touch the frictional metal surface of the machinery, a chemical reaction occurs. The anti-wear agents attach themselves to the metal surface. The result is the formation of a nano surface coating of film capable of minimizing daily wear. This provides protection not only against oxidation but damage from corrosive acids.

Impermanency

The protection for the machinery and its parts against wear is not permanent. The Anti wear agents for lubricants are exhausted over time. This does not impact or stop the machinery. It will continue to operate. However, the mechanisms are now threatened by wear damage. Renewing the additive-blended lubricant will address the issue.
