Traditional light bulbs are on their way into oblivion. In their place, people are using light-emitting diode (LEDs) or compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). Both are longer lasting and more energy efficient than the traditional light bulbs. CFLs can last for years without requiring replacement bulbs or a replacement Biax lamp holder. They are versatile and currently are available in a variety of types.
What Is a CFL?
CFLs are fluorescent light bulbs that use a low wattage. They do not require a special socket. In fact, unlike their larger fluorescent counterpart, they do not need two sockets. They only need one. As such, they easily act as simple replacements for traditional light bulbs. As such, they fit almost all standard lighting equipment from table lamps to desk lamps. You simply screw in a CFL and it emits a glow similar to that of a normal incandescent bulb. However, it is far more energy efficient, durable and cost-effective.
Four Basic Types of Single-Ended Biax CFLs
CFLs are not of a single type. They come in various styles. The range of Biax CFL products includes a CFL Biax lamp holder matched to the various types and diverse kinds of lamps or bulbs. The L type for example, provides bulbs with high lumen outputs ranging from comparable 18 to 55 watts. Biax™ D & D/E are LongLast™ lamps. They come in a smaller range – only from 10, to 26-watt ratings.
CFLs find use in a variety of environments ranging from residences to small businesses. You can pick from the following to match your requirements:
- Twin Tube Lamps: This is a CFL consisting of two parallel tubes. These are best suited for standard lamps as well as in task lights, recessed ceiling lights and wall lights. They are good for residential and small business usage.
- Quad Tube Lamps: Also referred to as Double Biax lamps, they are smaller than twin-tubes. They do, however, offer a similar wattage output. Best placement is in small lamps.
- Triple Biax Lamps: Although they take up a minimum amount of space, they generate a significant amount of light. These ultra-compact bulbs are perfect for table lamps.
- Spiral Lamps: This is one of the more popular CFLs on the market. Its shape – similar to that of an incandescent bulb, makes it very attractive to traditionalists. These bulbs are available in diverse sizes and, therefore, can fit in many regular incandescent fixtures.
Biax Lamp Holder
Biax lamps are available in a variety of shapes and wattages. They are in homes and small businesses. They provide light more efficiently and effectively in a more durable form than their incandescent counterparts do. With up to an 80% saving in energy saving, and able to use and reuse a Biax lamp holder without compromising the integrity of a lamp, it is easy to see why CFLs remain popular.
