Named for Revolutionary War hero General George Rogers Clark, Clarksville, TN has been celebrating the 4th of July since 1785. In fact, the town was originally settled with land grants given to General George Washington’s troops. Needless to say, Clarksville has a long history of patriotism.
The fireworks display on the banks of the Cumberland at Liberty Park is a yearly event that brings the entire community together. In fact, the fireworks in Clarksville draw people from all over Montgomery County! The music, games, and food are something that people look forward to all year.
If you’re planning your own family get-together on the 4th, shooting off your own fireworks can really add to the festivities. Fireworks in Clarksville can be shot off within the city limits between July 1 to July 5, and for New Year’s between December 28 to January 1. However, it’s important to remember that during other times of the year, it’s only legal to shoot off fireworks in Montgomery County outside of the city limits.
Of course, shooting fireworks requires safety precautions, including keeping children at a safe distance. And while the dogs love a family BBQ, if you plan on launching your own fireworks display, leave them safely inside. If your dogs react strongly to fireworks, you might consider giving them calming treats before the fireworks begin.
Make the 4th of July 2021 something really special by celebrating your liberty and independence with a bang.
