Our oceans are a living picture. The various reefs and coast lines offer a bounty of nature’s wonders to behold. And while seeing the beauty of ocean life on television is amazing, nothing can surpass the experience of observing these ecosystems up close and in person. Scuba Diving offers both the excitement of discovery and the awe of nature in one package.

The self-contained breathing apparatus, also known as Scuba, was brought to its current life in the 1940’s by the world famous underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau and engineer Emilie Gagnan. Together, they created the platform on which all rebreathers are based. Within a decade, scuba diving became one of the most popular activities enjoyed by vacationers, treasure hunters and underwater researchers. The United States military even adopted the scuba apparatus in favor of the dive helmet, which had to have oxygen pumped to it from the surface.

Aside from the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia, Southern Florida and, specifically, the Florida Keys, offer some of the most bountiful dive sites in the world. It is well known that the Caribbean holds a treasure trove of sunken ships and sea life – enough to keep any diver happy. Scuba Diving School is home to the world’s largest artificial reef made.

International Diving Institute is such a hot spot for scuba diving, there are many dive shops, as well as dive tours. Some even offer scuba training for those who have never dived before and for those who just need to brush up on their skills. Scuba Diving is an activity the entire family can join in on. Scuba is also a great way to appreciate the world we live in and, with the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean, there is no better way to appreciate the beauty of the world’s oceans then strapping on a scuba tank and exploring the undersea life first hand.
