There are many factors that create a home, but no building would be complete without the insulation necessary to keep nature at bay. There are various types of insulating products that may be used such as battens that are placed between the wall studs or vapour barriers that cover the exterior of the building before the siding gets put into place. However, some of the most important insulation that a home owner can have installed is Roofing Insulation. This is partly because hot air rises and any heat in the building will accumulate in the attic. Unfortunately, this heat can get trapped and affect the rest of the building which makes environment control problematic, at best.
Installing new or additional Roofing Insulation will depend on the home, its age and the condition of any existing weather barriers. In certain cases, it may be a simple task to place some extra insulation over the ceiling joists and block the return of excess heat. Alternately, one might opt to have insulation blown into place so that any gaps are filled. Blown insulation can often reach areas that typical batten styles only attempt to cover. This doesn’t mean that one style of insulation is better than the other since each serves a unique purpose. It is entirely possible to have the walls filled with blown in insulation while placing battens in the attic area.
Surprisingly, there is no such thing as too much insulation. Of course, it may be possible to install an excessive amount in various areas in an attempt to block out the heat or cold. However, it is a much better option to have an expert check the weak spots and determine the best way to protect them. In some cases, this may require the use of several types of insulation and vapour barriers, but the savings in energy costs should pay for the expense over time. Another important aspect of insulation is moisture. Some types of insulation don’t handle water very well. If the leak saturates an area that is important, then that insulation may be ruined permanently, and the location will need to be insulated again.
