When it comes to having versatile equipment that can be called upon to handle a wide range of jobs, there are few that are both specialized but also general enough to have various applications found with an anchor drill.
These drills can be used for anchor drilling, hence the name, but they are also the go-to option for micropiles. Additionally, these rigs can be used for all types of microdrilling needs and even for geothermal drilling. They provide operators with different options for use of this equipment, certainly making the anchor drill an important addition to any equipment line.
Anchor Drilling Demands
One of the biggest demands for an anchor drill is in areas where there is a need for the use of anchors for ground stabilization. Through the strategic drilling of the anchor holes, it is possible to prepare the ground for the movement of large amounts of equipment or weight without the need to worry about shifting or movement.
Different types of applications for the anchor drill rigs will require different sizes and features on the drills. Some offer a specialized cooling system to prevent extreme heat build-up with deep drilling needs or even load sensors that ensure that the drill operator has maximum control over the drilling process.
Micropile Drilling
Micropile drilling is also used as a form of stabilization, but it is designed to shift the weight of a structure from the actual supports of the building to the micropiles in the ground. By using a top quality anchor drill, these precision holes can be drilled into the ground, and often in the underlying rocks layers, providing a solid anchor or piling that will provide the necessary support even for very large structures.
With new techniques in micropile drilling, there is more demand for small and larger diameter anchor drill models to quickly and easily drill these holes. These drills will need to be able to go through the top soil layer and into bedrock, through boulders under the surface of the ground, and even to create underpinning to support larger structures above the surface.
In many areas, especially in urban areas for construction, the use of an anchor drill is highly preferred over traditional type of pile driving processes. With the drill there is no impact noise, and it is very quick, quiet and preferable to many of the other options for these types of applications.
