How Does it Work?
A typical HVAC system is quite simple; it cools the interior of the house by pulling warm air from the individual rooms via a series of ducts. As this air passes over cold coils, the heat is drawn out and transferred to the refrigerant contained in the coil. A fan blows across the cold coil; the air is returned to the rooms through a separate ducting system.
The heated refrigerant is delivered outside to the condenser. The heated refrigerant travels through another coil, which is cooled by a large fan. The fan dissipates the heat from the refrigerant. It then is returned inside the house where the cycle continues.
Although it is not used in Florida as much as air conditioning, the heating side of the system works similarly. Air is brought into the system via the ducting, this time, instead of cooling; the air is heated by the furnace and heat exchanger. The heated air is distributed through the same system of ducts.
